Who?

Hi there! I’m Thomas Nuijten, a director based in Amsterdam, NL. Falling in love with cinema, pop culture and the power of imagination from a young age, I moved on to pursue my filmmaking dreams by following my BA and MA in Film at the Royal Academy of Arts in Ghent, Belgium. 

I’d like to think of my work as being highly aesthetic, and I aim for it to encourage, activate, and challenge viewers through my play with narrative, contrast and sensitivity. 

I’m passionate about and inspired by art, literature, society, everyday observations, the queer community and experience, and storytelling. In my personal work this leads to experiments with narrative structures and an aim to create sensitive and emotion-driven conceptual films.

I’d like to say I’m flexible (mentally, not physically), giving me the ability to adapt to different brands, concepts and languages without losing authenticity. This also makes for my work to span a range of styles, from a more loose documentary approach to highly stylized productions. I have put my love, creativity, sensitivity and passion to work for clients such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Giambattista Valli, Adidas, Bugaboo and more.
